Cadillac F1: The new GRID 2026 member reveals a plan for the driver’s setup while TWG Motorsports was launched | F1 news

Chief Cadillac F1 Dana Towriss says the team will not “just grab” any American driver while preparing to join the Formula 1 2026 network.
In November 2024, it was confirmed that the Cadillac offer – from the American giant General Motors and the American Group of TWG Global – received approval from Formula 1.
Considering the great factor that came out in the team of team, their perceived F1 growth ability is popular in the United States, it is widely expected to sign at least one US driver for his debut campaign.
Towriss, saying that TWG launched the hand of the motorcycle sport he will lead, says he wants to find an American driver for the team, but that he will follow the “real” procedure.
He said Sky Sports News: “I think we would love to see the American driver in Formula One, but we certainly want to make sure we do it the right way.
“I think it is crucial that this person is set for success. It will not be a process just to grab an American and paste him at the wheel. We want to do it right, and so even more to come.”
America has a long history of drivers in F1, but has not produced many in recent years, and Logan Sargeant has lost its place in the mid -2024 after being able to show signs of improvement during his second season in Williams.
With a return to the Sargeant network, a little probably, any American signature, a F1 experience would be lacking, which Towriss admits to seek knowledge in his second place.
He said: “I certainly think that an experienced driver is crucial to setting up a new team from that point of view, so we definitely watch the experience of tandem driver.
“There are several American drivers who have experience in the lower formula series. So this is not Formula 1, but there are drivers who know songs and have been in the lower formula series there.
“So, we’ll work on that and we’ll see what’s out.”
Towriss was an instrumental figure on the path of the Cadillac team to F1, with his replacement by Michael Andretti last September, because it seems that the character of the main factor’s offer.
Just 10 months before the approval of Cadillaca intake, Formula 1 rejected what he basically tried to enter the same team, while led by Andretti and under the name of his team of the same name.
Explaining his role, Towriss said, “I think there was a lot of work behind the scenes and really just helping Formula 1, helping Liberty Media understand what the offer was from that point of view.
“I think there was certainly confusion about the statements given in a certain period of time, so once it became clear that it was a Cadillac F1 team, they saw that we were bringing value to the series.
“I think they recognized it and we were able to convince ourselves in the role of the new Formula One team and we are quite excited about it.
“But yes, it has changed a lot when we somehow turned from the former direction, and I suppose history was left.”
Towriss to the TWG Motorsports Division leadership
The Cadillac F1 team will be able to invite the experience of several top teams from the American Racing Series after launching TWG motto sports led by Towriss.
Extension of Twg GLOBAL, a group that plays roles on the Chelsea Premier League side, MLB Los Angeles Dodgers and NBA Los Angeles Lakers will include Cadillac F1 together with the Andretti Global figures, competing in Indycar and Formula E .
TWG statement states: “Twg Global Today announces the launch of TWG Motorsports, new divisions created to bring together a portfolio of leading motorcycles of sports to encourage competitive excellence, ingenuity and commercial innovation around the world, with the aim of challenging in The very top of Sport.”
TWG Global TWG co-operative Mark Walter added: “Dan was crucial in the formation of a considerable Cadillac Formula One team in partnership with General Motors and procurement for TWG Global and a wide portfolio of a race that includes Andretti Global, Wayne Taylor Racing and Spire Motorsports. “
Towriss says the new F1 intake will use TWG’s experience in moto sports – and other sports – to ensure that they bring something new and exciting to the network.
He said, “I think what I am most excited about with Cadillac with General Motors, a partnership, a collaboration we have in teams to really compare and redeem into our collective experiences.
“We really want to bring something new to the Formula One world. You should not expect a team for cookies 1 from this new Cadillac F1 team.
“It’s a new team, so there will be a lot to see. I’m sure it will even be a slaughter along the way, looking at a new team.
“We will have a lot to offer and we will think about it globally, which is Formula One, not just focused on the US.”
