Argentine President Milei denies charges of crypto fraud


Argentine President Javier Milei denied the promotion of the newly opened Crypto currency that collapsed shortly after he mentioned it in a post on social networks on Friday.

Cryptocoin $ scales rapidly increased in value before wearing, causing serious losses for most people who invested it.

The judge will now determine whether the president should face the charges of fraud over the incident.

On Monday, Milei said that he played “in good faith” and rejected the investor appeals, comparing their actions to the people who gamble: “If you go to Kasino and lose money, what do you complain about when you knew the risks?”

President Milei spoke about an incident $ Libra in an interview with Argentine TV channel Todo Atticias on Monday, after a weekend during which he remained unusually calm on social networks.

He insisted that his post on X, which contained a connection to the site he sells $ libra, is not approval.

“I didn’t promote him, I just shared it,” Todo Atticias said Jonny Viale.

Milei’s post, which he deleted after only a few hours, pulled out grave criticism not only from his political rivals in Argentina, but also from those who invested in the crypto currency.

Some claimed that the launch of $ libra was like “withdrawal of a rug” – where promoters attract customers, just to stop trading activities and expelled the money collected from sale.

The Presidential Office insisted that Milei was not involved in the development of $ scales and announced that the Corruption Office would determine whether the president had acted incorrectly.

Milei himself defended his post, saying that he did not know “details of the project at the time and after learning about it, I decided not to continue to promote him.”

Opposition politicians, however, are not made by statements, threatening to begin the proceedings to induce against Milei.

Although political analysts point out that opposition is unlikely to get votes needed to trial an impedant, the scandal threatens to distract Milei’s attention from his radical reform.

The federal judge was given the task of deciding whether to allegations of fraud that the president had filed with numerous prosecutors.

In his TV interview, Milei appeared combat, emphasizing that “there is nothing to hide.”

He also said that those who invested in $ Libra did so “voluntarily” and knew about the risks.

“It’s like playing a Russian roulette and get a bullet.”
