Amex has closed 30 accounts that are potentially related to the Iranian government
(Reuters) -us Giant Credit Card American Express identified and closed 30 consumer accounts in 2024, which he said he could have anything to do with Iran’s government.
The accounts were only used for personal costs, Amex said in a regulatory application on Friday. He also ended his relationship with a third -party network provider, which was connected to the Iranian bank, which was sanctioned by the US government.
The company announced that it voluntarily reported the activity to the Office for Control of the Ministry of Property. The gross revenue and net profit that can be attributed to these transactions were negligible, he added.
OFAC implements economic and trade sanctions against foreign entities observed as a threat to the United States.
The treasury spokesperson did not immediately respond to Reuters’ comment request.
