‘American First’: The largest steel manufacturer in the United States -in announces the support of Trump’s tariffs

“Nucor applauds the first steps that President Trump has taken in the first trade program of America,” wrote Leon J. Topalian, President, President and CEO of Nucor Corp. “We are looking forward to working with President Trump on the implementation of our trade law and strengthening US production!”
The subject of the letter is: “Executive commands of the President on Canada, Mexico and the People’s Republic of China.”
Nucor is based on North Carolina and serves as the largest steel producer in the country and metal recycling.

The company’s executive director recently joined Jim Cramer CNBC and celebrated Trump’s then upcoming tariffs as a tools to end “currency manipulation” and “subsidizing” of steel steel coming to the US from abroad.
“We saw a letter last Monday on the tariffs and what he would do,” Topalian said on Tuesday. “And I think they will be far -reaching and I think they will be very wide yes, again, stop illegal rejection, manipulation, manipulation of currency and the subsidizing of steel coming in now shore -a “

Trump on Saturday signed an executive command that approved Tariffs to Mexico, Canada and China with the new Law on International Emergency Economic Force. Tariffs enter into force on Tuesday and include 25% of tariffs about imports from Canada and Mexico and 10% of imports from import from China. Energy resources from Canada will have a lower tariff of 10%.

The tariffs are created in the light of “extraordinary” threats arising from “illegal foreigners and drugs, including a deadly fentanil”, according to the order.

“This challenge threatens the fabric of our society,” the executive order states. “Gang members, smugglers, people traders and illegal drugs of all kinds have poured over our borders and in our community.
“Canada has played a central role in these challenges, including missing enough attention and resources or meaningfully coordinating with partners to implement law in the United States to effectively stop swimming of illegal drugs.”

Foreign leaders opposed the tariffs. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Saturday that her country “categorically reject[s] Klever the White House against the Mexican government has alliances with criminal organizations, as well as any intention of intervention in our territory. “
