Amazon reported Earnings and revenues better than expected for the fourth quarter, but they gave disappointing guidelines for the current period. The shares slid in extended trading.
Here are numbers:
- Earnings: $ 1,86 Vs. Expected $ 1.49 per share
- Income: 187.79 billion USD is expected in relation to $ 187.30 billion
Wall Street also looks at several other numbers in the report:
- Amazon Web Services: 28.8 billion USD compared to $ 28.8 billion, according to Streetaccount
- Advertising: 17.3 billion dollars compared to $ 17.4 billion, according to the Streetaccount
Amazon said sales in this quarter will be between 151 billion and $ 155.5 billion. Analysts expected $ 158.5 billion, according to LSEG.
“This guideline provides for an unusually big, adverse impact” from foreign exchange courses, the company said. The influence is $ 2.1 billion, or $ 1.5%, Amazon said.
AND American dollar index – which measures the greener against the rival basket – reached the highest level in more than two years last month, on the eve of the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The dollar has constantly climbed from the end of November to mid -January and since then it has fallen a bit.
Based on Amazon’s forecast, the company only expects revenue growth of 5% to 9% in the first quarter. At the low end of the range, this would indicate the strongest growth in the record. Amazon went public in 1997.
The sale in Amazon’s cloudy division was hair below consensus estimates, but growing faster than the same quarter last year. The revenue increased by 19% during the quarter compared to 13% a year ago.
