A new deficit assessment returns the French pension reform to the negotiating table

The French Independent Public Audit Office has shared its assessment of a pension system deficit with Prime Minister François Bayrou this Thursday. This is the starting point for the 2023 pension reform negotiations, which increased the holiday age from 62 to 64 and representatives of workers and employers will begin discussions next week. One of the options on the table for reducing this deficit is to complement the existing contributions of workers and employers with pension funds in the private sector.
