Winter skin care routine – Fitnessista
I’m sharing my current winter skincare routine, from luxurious moisturizers to exfoliating masks, using safer products.
Hello friends! how are you all I hope you are enjoying the winter season so far and have managed to stay warm in the winter weather!
For today’s post, I’m sharing my winter skincare routine, including how to protect my skin and ways to help keep my skin soft and hydrated.
The colder the air outside (I live in Arizona after all!) and the dry heat inside rob my skin of its natural moisture, leaving it prone to drying out during the winter months; so changing up my skincare routine at this time of year is key to helping my skin retain moisture and maintain a healthy, happy complexion. Keep scrolling for details on my personal skincare routine that I swear by for hydrated, glowing skin, especially on dry, cold winter days.
The first step is a gentle cleanser that washes away makeup and impurities without over-drying, which is an important step for any skin type, especially if you have sensitive skin. Then I add my beloved vitamin C serum, which is full of antioxidants, and a moisturizer with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramide to help hydrate the skin, lock in moisture, and repair the skin barrier.
Plus, weekly exfoliation with a mild scrub or chemical peel can remove dead skin cells, promoting a radiant glow. I rotate between my favorite masks, listed below.
Finally, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen, even on cloudy days, provides protection from harmful UV rays. This is my choice.
Here’s what my winter skincare routine looks like. It changes and evolves over time with new products I find or love, but these are many of my tried and true favorites.
My winter skincare routine
Cleansers and serums
Using the right cleanser and serum is crucial to an effective winter skincare routine. Opt for a hydrating serum and cream or oil-based cleanser that will protect your skin’s moisture barrier, while avoiding any products with harsh, drying ingredients like sulfates.
Peels and masks
Peels and masks are great for removing built-up dirt, grime and dead skin cells, while masks can revitalize and renew your skin, leaving you with a radiant, natural glow.
Moisturizers
Arguably the most important part of any winter skincare routine is your moisturizer. Look for products with ultra-moisturizing ingredients, like shea butter, for longer-lasting moisture, even on the driest of winter days.
Tools
While not absolutely necessary for an effective skin care routine, the right tools can make things easier and even improve your results.
