Why would Ronald Araujo prefer to join Arsenal instead of Juventus
Ronald Araujo would reportedly like to try his hand at the Premier League, giving Arsenal a big boost in theirs pursuit vice-captain of Barcelona linked to Juventus.
Araujo is looking to restart his career after a significant period on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and has been heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona in a period where talks over a new contract have not progressed.
Serie A giants Juventus are famous fans and it was recently announced that they had agreed loan terms with Araujo, before Arsenal were tipped to join the race for his signature.
Leading Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim that Araujo did not shy away from discussing his situation with those who were close to him in Barcelona locker room. The centre-back is said to have privately admitted he is considering a move away, with the expected arrival of Jonathan Taha on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen only likely to limit his playing time further.
In those behind-the-scenes talks, Araujo reportedly confirmed that his priority would be a move to the Premier League if he were to leave Barcelona.
Araujo reportedly believes Mikel Arteta’s style of football would suit him and would be interested to hear what Arsenal i have to say. It should be emphasized that the transition to Juventuswhose pressure to sign him seems strongest at the moment, is not out of the question.
Further boosting Arsenal’s hopes of signing Araujo is Barcelona’s refusal to accept the loan. Juventus are thought to be unable to complete a permanent transfer, while the Gunners may have the finances to complete a deal over the line.
The Bianconeri also want to strengthen their attacking line as a priority – Randal Kolo Muani, linked with Man Utd and Tottenham, is their primary target – and the Frenchman would occupy a significant part of the club’s wage bill.
As for Araujo, he has 18 months left on his current contract and was warned that the club will try to make money if he does not extend soon.
