(Reuters) – The White House on Wednesday summarized US President Donald Trump’s extensive crackdown on the US-Mexico border this week.
Trump took office on Monday and issued a series of executive orders aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration and advancing his goal of deporting millions of immigrants who are in the US illegally. He made immigration a key issue in his election campaign last year.
The White House on Wednesday released a fact sheet related to the order Trump signed on Monday, his first day in office. No additional order was signed on Wednesday.
“President Trump is using every lever of his executive power to secure our nation’s borders. This is the number one promise he made to the American people during the campaign,” White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.
