I want you to really learn what quitting is and then I want you to come back with a commitment to do it a little less next time.”

Chael Sonnen reveals the humility of Hulk Hogan as he corners Colby Covington

On December 14, 2024, the final UFC event of the year took place in Tampa, Florida. IN the main eventJoaquin Buckley advanced his status as a light heavyweight contender with a third-round TKO (doctor’s stoppage) against Colby Covington.

One of the biggest takeaways from the match was Covington’s exit. The former interim UFC champion came out with Hulk Hogan and Chael Sonnen, which generated a lot of attention from fans.

During the episode Good/Bad GuySonnen revealed Hogan’s modesty backstage before his exit:

“It was a great thing, it was Hulk Hogan…The first thing Colby said to him was, ‘When the camera came on, Hulk, I wanted you with the American flag…I came out behind you.'” Hulk interrupted and told him, ‘Colby, I’m a guest in your house. You go first, I’m behind you… I don’t want it any other way.’ And that was his attitude from the start and he was more than welcome in that dressing room.”

Colby Covington’s loss against Joaquin Buckley was his only fight in 2023. The 36-year-old plans to bounce back in 2025 and potentially secure his first UFC win since defeating Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision in March 2022.
