West Brom are chasing a “wonderful” star who would be Johnston 2.0
While West Bromwich AlbionThe club’s main priorities at the moment lie in the appointment of a new manager, obviously there will be a January transfer window in the club.
After all, the Baggies will need some new recruits here and there to ensure they can keep up the battle until the end of the season to be in and around them Priority spot in the playoffs, regardless of who ends up succeeding Carlos Corberan.
While the rumor mill is very active in churning out names in this regard, it is also picking up speed with some rumored arrivals at the Hawthorns, with this exciting loanee rumored to be set for a move to the West Midlands.
West Brom have inquired about the Championship star
According to a new report by Daily Mail Online, West Brom have inquired about signing Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas, already known to Championship fans for some outstanding moments on loan at Stoke City this season.
Sheffield United are also listed as observers looking to add the 19-year-old winger to their ranks this month, but the Baggies could have the upper hand in this battle.
Koumas’ father Jason was a favored figure for promotion contenders when he regularly dazzled defenses as a maverick in midfield, and those at the Hawthorns are now hoping his son can be just as magical in attack if the move goes through.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will shorten Stoke’s contract so that West Brom can swoop in, but if a deal does happen, Koumas’ addition could have the same effect that Mikey Johnston’s arrival through the door last January conjured.
What Koumas can offer West Brom
The teenager will obviously be hoping a bright future awaits him at Anfield, but in the here and now, the 19-year-old would love to step up and show the Baggies what he’s made of amid a promotion push.
In a Stoke camp that was so bad that the manager was sacked, the raw Welshman still managed to stand out with an encouraging four goals and two assists a total of 29 appearances, which included this acrobatic effort against Bristol City in October.

Koumas could also take the pressure of playing for a side near the top of the Championship table in his stride, having scored on his senior debut for the Reds after lighting up plenty of youth pitches for his boyhood employers, with Jurgen Klopp labeling his contribution as “Wonderful“watch.
Of course, he won’t be going straight into the side, with the likes of Johnston shining in attack in recent weeks after once being loaned out himself.
He is now consistent for his side week in and week out after signing a permanent deal in the last transfer window, s nine goals and four assists collected from 42 games.
There would be anxiety in the air that the Republic of Ireland international would suffer a setback, having put up solid but unspectacular numbers for Celtic with 13 goals and 12 assists it came together in Glasgow but would eventually explode into life in England.
At least in this case, it is known that Koumas can perform at the level – with the added bonus that he can play in all attacking positions – this will surely be an addition the new West Brom boss will love to work with.
