Chamari Athapaththa is fired by Hannah Rowe with a peach
Central Districts won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision that backfired dramatically as Athapaththu worked her way through their batting order, helping her side bowl them out for just 112 in 18.4 overs.
The Sri Lankan captain was an outstanding bowler, claiming a brilliant 4 wickets for just 16 runs in her 4-over spell, including the first over. Her most attractive moment was when she rejected Hannah Rowe with the delivery of pure shine.
In the 5th over of the Central Districts innings, after he had already been removed Thamsyn Newton for 4 runs, Athapaththu bowled an absolute gem and sent Rowe back for a duck. A classic off-spin delivery hit mid on and smashed the stumps. Rowe tried to play it on the on-side but misjudged the length, with the ball sliding through the gap between bat and pad to rip out the bails.
