Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and children blamed for the downfall of the Indian superstar

Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg spoke about the issues surrounding Kohli, especially after he failed in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He said off-field commitments were also the reason for his poor performances.

Indian cricket team batsman Virat Kohli has struggled with the bat in Test cricket. The top batsman was averaging well below his standards and even his place in the team was also under the scanner, with many calling for him to be dropped.

Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs and looked terrible with the bat. In the first match, he hit a century and it seemed that he was going to set the stage on fire, but it was not like that because he failed miserably in the other 4 matches.

Kohli was coming out on the balls outside off while the Australian pacers were all over the bat. He averaged 23.75 in the series. Overall in the last 10 Tests, the Indian national cricket team player has scored 392 runs in his last 10 Tests, at an average of 23.05, which is well below his standards.

He has other responsibilities off the field that he didn’t have while dominating all three formats around the world – Bradd Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg, talking about Kohli’s struggles, said that he has other commitments now, which were not there when he was in his prime. He said that because of the off-field drama, he is not playing as well at the moment. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

“And then suddenly, now he has a family. He has other responsibilities off the field that he didn’t have when he was dominating all three formats around the world. So it’s not just about cricket, it’s about what happens off the field as well.”

“I think Virat Kohli has more drama off the field than on the field. I just think he just has too much on his plate which has probably caused his poor performance at the moment.”

There’s a lot of pressure on him – Bradd Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg added that the amount of cricket Kohli plays has also affected his performances. He pointed out that after the fierce international cricket he has to play the IPL for RCB as well. He elaborated:

“I think it’s probably more than the amount of cricket being played at the moment because you’re trying to play as much as you can for India in all three formats. And then you’ve got the IPL and it’s extended by a week or two as well.”

“So there is also a lot of pressure there because the owners are spending big money on players in the IPL. Virat Kohli is an elite player in RCB. So there is a lot of pressure on him there.”
