Vice President Harris ridiculed for mistake in opening text of Pledge of Allegiance: ‘What a shame’
Social media users attacked Vice President Kamala Harris for appearing to misunderstand the words of the Pledge of Allegiance in the US Senate on Friday.
Before the oath of the senators 119th CongressHarris led the pledge and accidentally mixed up his famous opening words, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.”
She could be heard saying over the microphone, “I pledge allegiance to the United States,” trailing off as she seemed to catch herself, then picked up with the others, “… United States of America.”
However, the moment went viral on social media, with tons of X users mocking her gaffe.

Outkick.com Clay Travis caught the gaffe, saying, “Kamala Harris just screwed up a promise.”
Kamala just screwed up the Pledge of Allegiance in the Senate. What a disgrace to this country,” prominent pro-Trump account Johnny Maga posted on the platform.
He added, “Tens of millions of Democrats voted for this woman to be president just a few weeks ago…”

Popular conservative poster Mike Engleman wrote: “Kamala Harris made word salad with the Pledge of Allegiance lol” – a reference to some of characteristic rhetorical gaffes Harris during his vice presidential term.
Trending Politics owner Collin Rugg noted, “JUST IN: Kamala Harris seems to be forgetting the Pledge of Allegiance during the swearing-in ceremony for new senators. This woman is just a heartbeat away from becoming president.”
Conservative commentator and comedian Terrence K. Williams said, “Kamala Harris doesn’t know the Pledge of Allegiance. This woman really wanted to be president! It’s actually embarrassing that the vice president doesn’t know the Pledge of Allegiance.”
