Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Suryakumar Yadav expressed his delight at the performance of the Indian bowlers. Suryakumar Yadav said:

“We play an aggressive brand of cricket, but as the situation demanded, the batter put their hands up. Very happy with the way Tilak batted.”

How India performed in 1st t20i vs England in Kolkata

India produced an impressive all-round performance to secure a dominant 7-wicket victory in the 1st T20I at the Eden Gardens. Chasing a modest target of 133, India cruised to victory with 43 balls to spare, thanks to explosive opener Abhishek Sharma’s heroics.

Winning the toss and deciding the Bowl, India struck early when Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in the first three overs. Varun Chakravarthy was the star with the ball, taking 3/23, including the crucial wickets of Jos Buttler (68) and Liam Livingstone.

Buttler fought a lonely battle with his brilliant knock but the rest of England batted against a disciplined Indian attack. Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya also chipped in with two knocks as England managed just 132 runs in their 20 overs.

In the chase, India faced a minor hiccup when Jofra Archer was quickly succeeded by Sanju Samson (26) and Suryakumar Yadav (0). However, Abhishek Sharma played a stunning knock, smashing 79 off 34 balls, including eight sixes and five fours. Also, Tilak Varma (19*) provided steady support as India completed the runs in just 12.5 overs.
