UK stocks fall at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.30% Investing.com

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, it weakened by 0.30%.

The best performers of the session were Persimmon PLC (LON: ), which rose 5.49% or 58.00 points to 1,114.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Airtel Africa Plc (LON: ) added 3.53% or 4.10 points to end at 120.20 and Ashtead group PLC (LON: ) was up 3.25% or 158.00 points to trade at 5,024.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were JD sports fashion PLC (LON: ), which declined 6.36% or 6.12 points to 90.18 at the close. Following PLC (LON: ) was down 3.44% or 322.00 points to 9,028.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON: ) traded down 2.99% or 62.00 points to 2,010.00.

On the London Stock Exchange, gainers outnumbered decliners by 978 to 839, while 596 ended unchanged.

Shares of JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.36% or 6.12 to 90.18.

Gold futures for February delivery rose 0.11% or 3.06 to $2,681.66 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude for March delivery fell 0.74% or 0.57 to $76.73 a barrel, while the March Brent crude contract fell 0.77% or 0.62 to 80, 39 dollars per barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.26% at 1.22, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.84.

US dollar index futures fell 0.48% to 109.29.
