Tyson Fury announced his retirement from boxing…again!
Tyson Fury released his retirement out of the pits… about the 47th time. This time he is retiring after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Yes, the same Fury who once said he would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime has decided to back off. Again. Perhaps.
Usyk outclassed the 36-year-old heavyweight in their rematch in December, but no one expected him to throw in the towel on his career just now. After all, he was retired before. And unretired. Then retired again. Predicting Fury’s next move is like guessing the weather in Manchester – good luck.
Joshua vs. Fury? Not happening (obviously)
Just last week, Anthony Joshua stirred the pot by saying the Fury fight “had to happen” this year. Saudi boxing great Turki Alalshikh has even hinted that the all-British blockbuster will become a reality. Wembley Stadium was reportedly booked, fans were buzzing and boxing Twitter was in total meltdown.
But no. Fury took to social media with one of his signature cryptic messages:
“Hi everyone, I’ll keep this short and sweet. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It was great, I loved every minute. I’ll end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, see you on the other side.”
Dick Turpin? Mask? Is this a retirement speech or an audition for a historical drama?

A pension that never stays
Let’s face it, Fury’s retirement carries the same weight as a featherweight boxer. Remember 2022? After defeating Dillian Whyte, he declared he was done, only to return later that year to fight Derek Chisora. Even then he gave a dramatic speech:
“Every good dog has its day. As the great Roman leader said, there will always be someone else to fight. When is enough, enough?”
Apparently, “enough” lasts until the next big payout. So is this the end of Tyson Fury’s career? Perhaps. But if history teaches us anything, we’ll see him back in the ring—probably with a new set of apologies and another cryptic Instagram post.
