Two dead after plane crashes into California factory


Two people have been killed and 18 injured after a small plane crashed into an office building in Southern California, officials say.

Ten people were taken to the hospital with injuries, the Fullerton Police Department said in a post on X Thursday afternoon. Eight other people were treated for their injuries and released at the scene.

The single-engine RV-10 van crashed at 2:15 p.m. PST (8:15 p.m. GMT), according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Officials did not provide further details on how the accident occurred. It is not clear whether the two who died were workers or were on the plane.

Police say they are evacuating buildings in the area and asking residents to stay away from the crash site.

Congressman Lou Correa, who represents the area of ​​Orange County, near Los Angeles, said the building that was hit was a furniture company.

In a post on X, Correa said at least a dozen victims were factory workers.

Aerial photos of the scene show parts of the plane inside the building.

This is the second plane to crash in the area in the last two months, reports CBS, the American partner of the BBC.

On November 25th, another plane crashed about a block away from this latest accident. No one was injured in that accident.
