Investing.com- US President Donald Trump’s proposed trade tariffs against Colombia are now on hold after Bogota agreed to accept migrants deported from the US, the Associated Press reported on Sunday.
Trump threatened to impose 25 percent tariffs on all Colombian imports after the country refused to allow two US military planes carrying migrants to land in the country.
The Colombian government has agreed to Trump’s terms of accepting illegal immigrants, and Trump’s proposed tariffs are now on hold, the AP reported, citing a statement from White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt.
The US president threatened to impose a 25% tariff on all Colombian imports, which was to rise to 50% within a week. Colombia’s biggest exports to the US are oil, coffee, gold and flowers.
