While Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has explored every option, including potentially sending Bumrah to New Zealand for further treatment, the selectors are also exploring reserves.

“The BCCI medical team is in contact with Schouten in New Zealand. The committee also planned Bumrah’s visit to New Zealand. But that hasn’t happened yet. The selectors know that it will be a real miracle if Bumrah is 100% fit by the deadline. The reports will be shared with his doctor in New Zealand. Sending Bumrah to New Zealand will depend on feedback. The board and Bumrah himself are not willing to push hard given his importance over a long period of time,” a BCCI source told TOI.
“The selectors will be informed if he is ready to go on the field only after the end of the whole process. Selectmen will have to have a backup plan ready for him. It will be a real miracle if Bumrah pulls it off,” the source added.
