Transfer of Kyle Walker: Man City accepted AC Milan’s offer for the England national team | Football news
Manchester City have accepted an official offer from AC Milan for Kyle Walker.
A loan with the option to buy the England national team member permanently during the summer was agreed upon.
The option is worth around £4.2m (€5m). The sky in Italy.
Walker will arrive in Milan around lunchtime today and will go to a hotel before going to a medical in the afternoon.
He will go to the headquarters of AC Milan, Casa Milan, to sign the contract.
Walker has helped City win 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League, since joining the club in a £50million deal from Tottenham in 2017.
He came close to joining Bayern Munich after City’s treble in 2023 but signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2026.
On the success City have achieved with Walker, Guardiola said: “We cannot understand the success we have achieved these years without Kyle. It is impossible.
“He arrived with us eight years ago and we started winning, winning, winning, winning and he was important for the national team and of course for our team.”
‘Separation makes sense for City and Walker’
Sky Sports’ Lewis Jones:
A split between Walker and Manchester City makes sense for both parties.
Walker may have asked to leave, but there won’t be much resistance from the club’s decision-makers based on the England international’s clear decline in power this season.
A player who has built his career on being nearly unbeatable in one-on-one matchups is now an easy target for opposing players to exploit.
Even Timo Werner, who is suffering form and confidence problems at Tottenham, showed Walker clear heels to set up Spurs’ fourth goal in that crushing defeat to City earlier this season.
It led Sky Sports’ Gary Neville to say: “You don’t see that often but we’ve seen it a few times in the last few weeks. Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, he’s had them all, Walker, but he’s struggling.”
Walker’s mistakes aren’t just weird either, they bring catalog vibes. As the si-bez statistics suggest, his presence has become a hindrance rather than a help to Guardiola.
