The US housing market has another year in the books after 2024 ended this week.
While the median value of homes sold was $383,725 for the four weeks ending Dec. 22, according to Redfin, some transactions for homes in the US it fetched staggering sums well in excess of that.
Redfin has identified the highest selling price homes in 2024. The company told FOX Business that its list, which is previously published Forbes, only sales that were public and listed on the MLS were included.
There were also some eight- and nine-figure off-market transactions during the year, according to reports.
The properties that Redfin said had the top five sales prices in 2024 include:
Carpinteria, Calif., home: $96 million
The home, built in 2007, was bought over the summer, fetching a whopping $96 million, according to Redfin.
Five bedrooms and multiple bathrooms are part of the 9,000 square foot villa.
The villa is “designed in the modest style of a Tuscan country house,” according to the description on Redfin.
Its grounds extend to more than 10 hectares, including a lot of frontage over the water.
In the yard there is a large swimming pool according to the pictures.

Aspen, Colorado, home: $77 million

Sale $77 million Aspen, Colorado, home called “The Ranch at Owl Creek” took place in April.
The property, which spans more than 60 acres, is described in the listing as a “mountain oasis” not far from Snowmass and Buttermilk, two popular ski resorts in the area.
It features a “heated pool, two hot tubs, stocking trout pond, exercise pavilion, movie theater and wine cellar,” according to the listing.
Inside the house are eight bedrooms, including a “lavish” master suite. There are as many full bathrooms and three half bathrooms. Six fireplaces can also be found throughout.
The house itself has over 12,600 square meters. It was built in 2005.
Miami Beach, Florida, home: $72.25 million
A modern-looking 12,500-square-foot home that sold for $72.25 million in Miami Beach, Florida is located on the shores of Biscayne Bay. It has an incredible nine bedrooms.
According to the listing, the home includes “maid/flag rooms.” There is also a wet bar and a “den/library/office.”
His waterfront lot is 0.58 acres, according to the listing.
The eight-figure sale occurred in October, according to Redfin.
Aspen, Colorado, home: $66.5 million
Aspen was home to another property that achieved one of the highest sales prices in 2024, according to Redfin.
The $66.5 million five-bedroom home was purchased in late April. Pitkin County Assessor’s records list a limited liability company as the new owner.
It was built on a 9,000-square-foot lot in downtown Aspen, according to Redfin.
Before the April transaction, the property last changed hands in 2022, when it sold for $20.5 million, according to public records.
Carpinteria, Calif., home: $65 million

The $65 million Carpinteria mansion, purchased in mid-November, consists of three oceanfront bluff lots, according to the property’s description on Redfin. The plots have a total of about 12 hectares.
The massive house was built with five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. In all, it offers 10,900 square feet.
The buyer can “enjoy direct access to Loon Point Beach, 24/7 guarded security and a unique opportunity to develop the two remaining lots to create the ultimate heritage beach retreat“, it says in the description.
Carpinteria, where the property is located, is about 11 miles east of Santa Barbara.

Other homes identified by Redfin as having sold in some of the most expensive deals of 2024 also had eight-figure prices, such as one in Los Angeles that was purchased for $62.8 million, another in Miami Beach that had a sale price of $62, 5 million dollars and Reno, a house in Nevada that was sold for 62 million dollars.
