‘The View’ Brings Snoop Dogg’s Rip, Nelly to Perform at Trump Inaugural Ceremonies
“The View” hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin on Tuesday were critical of black artists like Nelly and Snoop Dogg who performed at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
In the days before Trump officially opened on Mondayhis supporters celebrated at several events across the capital. One celebration was the Crypto Ball, hosted by new White House AI and “Crypto Czar” David Sacks, and featuring Snoop Dogg.
“The thing that really, I think, caught Snoop’s attention was because of the things that Snoop Dogg said 10 days before [Trump] inauguration in 2017,” Navarro said. “And so look, if you opposed and stood up against Trump in 2017, but you were there now, if you spoke against Trump on January 7, 2021, but you were there now applauding him as a trained seal… Donald Trump hasn’t changed. You’ve changed.”
SNOOP DOGG ENJOYED TRUMP’S INAUGURAL CRYPTO BALL WITH BOB MARLEY’S SONG
In January 2017, the rapper released a video threatening to “roast the f—ing” of any “Uncle Tom a— n—” who performed for Trump’s inauguration at the time. He also made a video mocking the assassination of Trump and suggested that calls to make America great again were a reference to a time period of segregation.
Earlier in the segment, Hostin played a clip of former Clinton White House aide Keith Boykin criticizing artists who performed during Trump’s inauguration. He claimed that Trump had “attacked black people” during his time in office and suggested that artists like Nelly and Snoop Dogg “embarrass those people when you go and perform for this man.”
Hostin argued that Boykin’s comments were “really important” and said Americans need to remember who Trump really is.
“This is Donald Trump,” she said.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin spoke out against artists being targeted just for performing at a political event.

“I’m not coming for the artist. It’s the same way I felt about Carrie Underwood. I think people see it as part of the American tradition to be a part of this. They can make statements if they want to clarify their views on Trump, I don’t like to come for the artist,” she said. “I think if you think people should boycott Donald Trump, which I don’t agree with, I would reach out to the politicians.”
