US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the US is committed to ‘holding accountable those responsible for these crimes’.
The United States found that the Rapid Support Force (RSF) and allied militias committed genocide in the Sudanannouncing sanctions against the leader of the group.

“The United States is committed to holding those responsible for these crimes accountable,” Blinken said.

The US Treasury also announced sanctions against RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagal. The sanctions prohibit him from traveling to the US and freeze any assets he has in the US.
International organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) have struggled to gain access to areas of Sudan where civilians are struggling to survive food shortages and other critical goods.
“Malnourished children and mothers are dying due to lack of access to care, and cholera is spreading in many parts of the country,” WHO regional director Hanan Balkhy said at a media briefing in October.

The US Treasury Department announced on Tuesday that the sanctions also apply to seven RSF-owned companies located in the UAE.
