The ultra-rich club want to replace the Liverpool star with an icon worth £200 million
Although it is Liverpool the machine continues to turn on, as seen on Arne SlottA side who claimed a 4-0 straight FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley, this month could prove to be a sticky time for the Reds after all.
After all, the futures of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold remain up in the air, and some nerves in this department have at least been calmed by reading that Virgil Van Dijk is reportedly on the way to sign a new contract from Anfield briefly.
Alongside all this contract talk, there is another surprise player who could leave Merseyside very soon, although his current deal remains in place until 2028.
The Liverpool star could be heading to Saudi Arabia
According to the report of Anfield Watch, Darwin Nunez could now be on the move this January as new suitors eye the cool and cold Uruguayan.
One of those new teams set to try and snap up the 25-year-old is cash-rich Al-Hilal, with the Saudi side keen to offload the former £200m man Neymar for some new star power.
After all, Al-Hilal are currently under the managerial guidance of former Benfica boss Jorge Jesus, who managed to turn Nunez into a respected goal machine in Portugal.
Moreover, with Nunez slipping further and further down the order under Slott – with former Reds great Robbie Fowler declaring before his Accrington duck that “not a Liverpool player” caliber – this could be a move that suits all parties, especially if Al-Hilal cough up some mega dollars like £85 million was once set aside for a striker.
Liverpool have been here before when they lost a striker who made their mark at Anfield, only for the Reds to easily bounce back from this departure with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpa and the rest now lighting up the Premier League.
A Liverpool exit like Sadio Mane
While it’s clear that Nunez won’t fall into the same legend category as Sadio Mane when he leaves, it would still be hard to lose the Uruguayan, especially when you consider the amount of money that was invested to get him.
In addition, he showed his class in attack for the Reds, with 37 shots picked up in total for the Merseyside giants, resulting in Jurgen Klopp labeling the 2ft tall forward as “outstanding” when he was still steering the Liverpool ship.
But, after his goalless performance against the League Two rivals on Saturday, patience will be wearing thin on Slott’s side who may feel a departure is the most logical next step, with the Reds also having to budge on the sale of Mane after the Senegalese ace rejected a new contract.
Although that development was initially demoralizing – considering Mane left Liverpool with a stunning 120 goals along with his name – the Reds have more than bounced back with Salah aging like fine wine, with heroics from other stars up top.

As can be seen above, Slott has a whole host of exciting attacking players to choose from, with Salah having scored an incredible 90 goals and assists since Mane’s departure, while the former Reds striker is now forgotten playing in Saudi Arabia.
The same could soon happen to Nunez if he completes a move to Al-Hilal, and Liverpool will no doubt use the millions he would recoup to add another fearsome striker to their already stellar arsenal.
