More than 70 Rohingye refugees fleeing in a persecution in Mjanmar has arrived at the tourist beach in the Aceh Province in Indonesia.

Local police chief Nova Suryandar said that a wooden boat, who broke 40 men, 32 women and four children on Wednesday after the engine, after the engine had broken down.

Nova said refugees were taken to temporary shelters and that the authorities were gathering information about their identity.

The boat arrived at the beach in the afternoon, but the locals blocked it from about 8pm (13:00 GMT).

Police chief said the police negotiated with the inhabitants, explaining that the boat was “intentionally damaged” and that it was “impossible” for the ship to work again.

He said many suspected that illegal merchants had damaged the ship, which allegedly started from Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh in the hope that he would reach Malaysia.

According to the United Nations, more than 2,000 Rohingya arrived in Indonesia in 2023 – higher than the combined total number of arrivals in the previous four years.

Last year alone, more than 600 Rohingye refugees landed in East Aceh. Earlier this month, more than 260 people – mostly women and children – landed in a two -boast pereulian.

About a million Rohingye, who are predominantly Muslims, is currently in Bangladesh camps after leaving Mjanmar.

They include about 740,000 who escaped in 2017 from a brutal “approval campaign” by the Mjanmar security forces, accused of committing mass rapes and murders.

The Rohingya minority faces widespread discrimination in Mjanmar, and most are deprived of citizenship.
