The PSL 2025 Draft has been postponed to January 13 in Lahore

The Pakistani cricket The board (PCB) has announced a new date for 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) gas. The event was originally scheduled for January 11 in Gwadar, Balochistan. However, it will now be held on January 13 at Huzoori Bagh in Lahore Fort.

Why the PSL draft date change?

The PCB pointed to the weather forecast as the main reason for postponing the emergency by two days. The change was made to give the production crew and broadcasters enough time to prepare everything for the event. Rain is expected in Gwadar on January 11.

A rehearsal for the draft ceremony will be held on January 12, allowing the PSL board to iron out any logistical kinks before the main event.

Official PCB statement

The PCB issued a press release confirming the moved date and venue of the draft. “The HBL PSL Player Draft has been postponed and will now be held on January 13 at Huzoori Bagh, Lahore Fort,” the statement said. The committee also mentioned that Gwadar will remain a key location in the HBL PSL 2025 Trophy Tour scheduled for March.

The event will be broadcast live from 12:30 PKT on January 13, with all six franchises assembling their squads for the much-anticipated tenth edition of the league.

Qadir Khawaja confirms the news

Prominent journalist Qadir Khawaja broke the news on social media, confirming the postponement. He said that the PSL management wants to ensure a smooth and well-organized draft process.

“Exclusive: Pakistan Super League Season 10 draft date changed,” Khawaja posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The ceremony will now be held in Lahore on January 13. The rehearsal will take place on January 12. The date was changed due to rain forecast in Gwadar. The PSL management wants the event to run efficiently.”

Key players register for PSL draft

This year’s PSL draft features some high-profile international names, including former Australian opener David Warner, retired New Zealand pacer Tim Southee and Bangladeshi stars Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman. More than 80 foreign players applied for the draft.

Interestingly, the PSL 2025 season will run parallel to the Indian Premier League (IPL), giving the PCB an opportunity to attract international stars left unsold in the IPL 2024 mega auction. While the salary cap may deter some players, others may be tempted to join the PSL for a chance to play in front of a passionate crowd.
