The imputant and arrested President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, was officially charged on Sunday on charges of charging him last month, when he briefly imposed a rated law.
Mr. Yoon’s indictment means that his trial is likely to start soon. The following indictments of former Defense Minister and several military generals and police chiefs, and all are facing criminal charges for helping Mr. Yono to commit the same crime.
He is the first president in South Korean history to face criminal charges while still on duty.
His fall began when the unexpected declared a martial arts law 3 December, accusing the national assembly under the supervision of “paralyzing” her government. The Assembly voted the measure, forcing him to abolish the command after about six hours. But in decades, she launched the worst political crisis of South Korea.
While people called for Mr. Yoon’s overthrow, the Assembly abolished it on December 14, suspending it from duty. The constitutional court of the country is considering whether the parliamentary imperative was legitimate and should formally be removed from duty. Separately, criminal investigators were arrested by Mr. Yoon for charges of rebellion on January 15th.
From his prison cell, Mr. Yoon vowed to fight for a refund.
Most South Koreans approved his imperials and considered him guilty of rebellion, according to public opinion polls. But the deceased supporters of Mr. Yoon called his Imperatin “fraud”. Some of them shocked the country when they vandalized the courtroom in Seoul after one of his judges approved an arrest warrant on January 19th. Almost 60 people have been arrested in connection with these unrest.
Prosecutors said that Mr. Yon had committed a rebellion during the short -term imposition of the marriage law when, they said, he banned all political activities and ordered military commanders to break the door to the assembly with “axes” or “shooting, if necessary” and “pull” the legislators. They said that Mr. Yon had sent the troops there to take away the assembly and detained political leaders.
The nation watched the vibrant scenes of the troops of special forces armed with assault rifles that stormed the Assembly while the legislators gathered there to vote against a martial arts law. But Mr. Yoon rejected the insurgency charges saying that he had never intended to neutralize Parliament or arrest political leaders. The troops were there to “keep their turn,” he said.
The indictment of Mr. Yoon, though not a surprise, came before it was expected.
State prosecutors are investigating former Defense and General Minister. The Corruption Investigation Office in the country for senior officials took over the case of a rebellion against Mr. Yoon, but under the law, only prosecutors can accuse him.
Mr. Yoon refused to cooperate with the investigation; He and his lawyers insisted that the four -year office did not have the right to investigate him.
On Thursday, the Investigation Office for Corruption submitted its case to prosecutors. The two had previously agreed that prosecutors had been accused by Mr. Yoon by the beginning of February, and prosecutors planned to further investigate Mr. Yoon’s actions.
But on Friday, a judge in the court in Seoul ruled that Mr. Yon had to be charged before or released because the Corruption Office had already undergone an investigation.
