Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Canada is “not for sale” amid a flurry of comments President-elect Donald Trump about a country that could become part of the United States.
“I love the USA, I love Americans and I get that. You know, President-elect Trump is a real estate tycoon. He’s made billions. But that property is not for sale, simple as that,” Ford said Tuesday on “Jesse” Watters Primetime.”
Trump joked about Canada becoming the “51st country” at Mar-a-Lago press conference Tuesday afternoon, he reiterated his apparent vision of seeing the country under US control.

“Canada and the United Statesthat would really be something,” Trump said. “Get rid of that artificially drawn line, and look at what that looks like, and it would also be much better for national security.”

Ford argued that Canada and the US could come together through a “major trade deal” and work hand in hand to solve the China “problem”.

“China is the problem. China ships cheap parts to Mexico, and Mexico puts a ‘made in Mexico’ sticker on it, ships it through the US and Canada, costing Americans and Canadians their jobs,” he said.
“We are proud Canadians, just as there are proud Americans. And if we join together and conquer the world with a major trade deal between us, I think it would be fantastic. No one could stop us.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who announced his resignation earlier this week, also hit back at the incoming 47th president for his comments, saying there was “no way in hell” his country would become part of the US

Canada is one of the largest trading partners of the US, followed by Mexico and China.
