The NBA fined Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards for the fifth time this season
Anthony Edwards is one of the highest paid players in the NBAbut his wallet takes another hit.
The league punished Minnesota Timberwolves star $50,000 for what were described as “obscene gestures.” The gestures in question were aimed at the referee, the NBA found. The latest fine brings his total fine for the season to $285,000.
He has been penalized five times this season for various conduct offences, most of them stemming from language.

Edwards, the best choice in 2020 NBA draftsigned a five-year extension for the rookie after the 2022-23 season. He earned All-NBA honors the following year, bringing the total value of his contract to $224 million over the five-year span.

The league cited Edwards’ conduct with 1:26 left in the third quarter of Saturday’s 127-125 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies during the announcement of the penalty.
Edwards, a two-time All-Star in his fifth season, was ejected with 2:25 remaining in the period. He picked up his NBA-leading ninth technical foul of the season while on the bench.
In December, he was fined $100,000 for profanity during a live television interview, $75,000 for profanity in public criticism of the trial and $25,000 for profanity in a media interview. In November, he was fined 35 thousand dollars for an obscene gesture on the field.

Edwards ended last weekend’s losing streak the Grizzlies with 15 points. The T’Wolves entered Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards with a 20-18 record and eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
