The man who burned the Qur’an ‘shot in Sweden’
A man who caused violent protests after burning the Qur’an was killed in Sweden, according to the reports of local media.
It is reported that Salwan Momika, 38, was killed on Wednesday night in an apartment in Södertänja, Stockholm.
The unrest broke out after Mr. Momika lit a copy of the Islamic holy book outside the central Stockholm mosque in 2023.
Mr. Momika and his partner were charged with the Qur’an Burning, but the verdict, which should be reached Thursday, was postponed after “confirmed that one of the accused died,” said Stockholm district court.
Stockholm police told State Television SVT News that a man was found killed in the apartment and died later.
