The Last Days of Bibby Stockholm: Life on a British Migrant Barge | documentary
Living on a migrant barge in the UK, an asylum seeker struggles with depression on the run while awaiting an asylum decision.
Salah, an asylum seeker from Somalia in his mid-twenties, lives on board the Bibby Stockholm in Portland, United Kingdom, along with 411 other men. As he awaits an interview at the Home Office, his small common room becomes a battleground for depression.
To cope, Salah takes up running and joins a local club that offers him a brief respite from isolation. He also volunteers at a youth center, where he learns that Great Britain is not what he expected. When his interview appointment finally arrives, Salah’s future hangs in the balance, as does Bibby Stockholm’s.
Last Days of the Bibby Stockholm is a documentary film by Sue Sudbury and Dave Young.
