The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 should come out of Pakistan because the reconstruction of the stadium is considered “absolutely impossible”
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is only a few days away from its beginning and is growing concern about the willingness of the stadium. In a shocking update, the reconstruction of the stadium is impossible to end before the tournament.
The champion trophy will be played at three stadiums inside Pakistan – Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. The opening will be played in Karachi, while the finals will be played either in Lahore or Dubai, depending on the availability of India.
A few months ago, the chief of Pakistan Crickket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi announced the works on the upgrade of these stadiums and vowed to make them a world -class class before the historic opportunity. The construction works began only in August 2024, leaving only 8 months to prepare them.
PCB problems regarding the stadium upgrade
According to Pakistani English newspaper Dawn, the works on the upgrade of the stadium will not be completed within the deadline. However, the staff has already handed over the responsibility of the stadium with full confidence.
“It seems that TT is absolutely impossible to think about the work of a renewal ending within the deadline, but the staff has been dedicated to responsibility shining with confidence,” the report said.
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi examined the stadium in Rawalpindi on January 28 (Tuesday). The Committee takes control of all renovated places until the 31st January. However, it remains to be seen whether the job will finish by the deadline.
The source near the construction of the stadium claimed that the stadiums would be ready for the host of the match, however, it remains to be seen whether or not they will be able to provide world class experience.
“Look, the stadium will be in the form for the host of the match, but the question is that PCB has promised everyone the world class experience in these renovated sites for the three-series trophy and the champion, and if I can fulfill that promise, it remains to be seen,” The source quoted the PTI.
Why is the job delaying?
The man responsible for all upgrades, Bilal Chohan, complained that he did not receive the necessary equipment in time, causing delay in the work.
The panels that will be placed in the new building were to be released from the Port of Karachi on Sunday night and tThe installation was supposed to be the next morning.
The Pakistan Cricket Committee spent a large sum of 12 million PKRs to work on renovation at all three stadiums in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. The PCB chief wants to do this historic opportunity because it is the first ICC tournament in Pakistan after 29 years.
Three-series Before ICC Champion Trophy 2025
Prior to the champion trophy, Lahore and Karachi, he will also host the three-series in which they participated in South Africa and Novi Zealand. Both foundations will be held two games each.
The 2025 champion trophy will start with Pakistan, who has taken over New Zealand in Karachi. While all teams will play in Pakistan, India will play their games in Dubai according to the hybrid model.
