The European giants could offer Antony a loan route from Man Utd
Many European clubs are interested in him, including the Greek giant Olympiacos signing Antony on loan from Manchester United, reports claim.
The 24-year-old has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford this season, playing just 84 minutes in Premier League football in six substitute appearances.
The appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach has done little to improve Antony’s position in United’s squad, with Amad Diallo, the Portuguese, the preferred attacking option in a system that has often deployed Noussair Mazraoui on the right wing.
The Daily Mail write that Antony is on the radar of Olympiacos, who could possibly offer the Brazilian regular first-team football if he goes out on loan. However, United may need to subsidize some of the high wages he signed when he joined for a staggering £86m in the summer of 2022.
“Many clubs approached us about Antony’s transfer in January,” Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, previously said about the potential exit.
“These clubs wanted to understand the situation for Antony, so I can confirm that there is concrete interest. I can say that Antony’s future is very much linked to Manchester Unitedinterests. If the club feels it would be a good idea to loan Antony in January so he can get more minutes and regain his confidence, we will work together on that option.”
Antony was taken to Old Trafford by former manager Erik ten Hag, whom he impressed during his two-year spell at Ajax. But despite a promising start to his United career, in which he scored three goals in the first three Premier League appearances – the first player in the club’s history to ever achieve that feat – he failed to get going, often finding himself briefly watched from the bench.
La Liga side Real Betis have also been touted as a potential destination for Antony, with a move to the rich Saudi Pro League previously mooted.
United are understood to be willing to let Antony leave as long as terms are favourable, with departures for Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee also on the cards after difficult starts to the campaign for both. AC Milan is interested in Rashfordwhile Zirkzee is a transfer target of Juventus – Dušan Vlahović advertised himself as a potential weight in every job.
