The club are now open to selling Nottingham Forest’s 23-goal target last season

Nottingham Forest have received a major boost in their pursuit of the striker who scored 23 goals last season, and his current club are now willing to sell him, according to a new report.

Latest news from Nottingham Forest

Forest will look to continue their incredible Premier League season on Sunday when they welcome bottom-placed Southampton from League One to the City Ground.

Nuna Espirito Santo’s team, which narrowly avoided relegation last season, is currently third in the table, with 12 wins and only four losses from 20 games so far. They recently drew 1-1 with leaders Liverpool, who they also beat earlier in the season.

Ahead of the draw with the Reds, Forest have confirmed that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has rejoined the club on a contract until the end of the season.

Hennessey, who has made 109 appearances for Wales, originally joined in 2022 and made nine appearances before leaving the club at the end of last season when his contract expired. However, the 37-year-old has remained active on the training pitch while recovering from injury and has now penned a short-term deal until the end of the campaign.

“Unfortunately, Wayne had a serious injury at the end of last season which was a difficult time for everyone on the training ground,” Nuno said at a press conference on Monday. “But he’s progressed and now he’s a big part of us, especially in the goalkeeper community which is a small group.

“He’s signed his contract and it’s a pleasure to have him around. His knowledge, his experience, the way he goes about his job, it’s really good to have him.”

Musa now for sale

Another player who could potentially sign at the City Ground soon is FC Dallas striker Petar Musa. The Croatia international moved to Dallas from Benfica in Major League Soccer in February and scored 17 goals in all competitions for the Toros in the 2024 season. Before leaving for Texas, Musa also scored six times for Benfica – meaning he finished the year with 23 goals.

Forest reportedly made contact with Dallas through Muse starts in the January window, and according to the famous journalist Rudy Galetti, The MLS club is now open to selling the 26-year-old before the start of the 2025 season, which starts in February.

“FC Dallas is open to evaluating offers,” Galetti wrote on X, adding that it would cost any interested party around £15m to secure his services.

However, Forest face serious competition for Musa, with Galetti reporting that both Leicester City and Serie A giants AC Milan are also interested in the striker, with the latter confirming an interest in Musa’s camp.

According to the X account TheCroatianLad, Musa has recently signaled that he wants to return to Europesaying: “You never know in football. We’ll see. Of course, I’d like to play in one of the top five leagues one day.”
