The “absolute terror” player is set to sign for Celtic alongside Tierney

Celtic are thought to be closing in on signing the “absolute terror” alongside Kieran Tierney in the January transfer window, following a significant update from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Celtic transfer news

Mathias Kvistgaarden has been linked with a move to Parkhead this month, with the 22-year-old Brondby striker seen as an ideal replacement for the departing Kyog Furuhashi. He has scored 10 goals in only 12 starts in the Danish Superliga this season.

Meanwhile, Celtic are believed to have held talks with Iota around a return to the club, with the attacking ace leaving the club to join Saudi pro-league side Al-Ittihad in 2023, before moving to Rennes last year. However, this would not be a swap involving Kyogoo, as the Japanese star is on the verge of a move to the Ligue 1 side.

Lennon Miller is one of the most exciting young players in the Scottish Premiership currently, and has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Hoops in recent months. The Motherwell midfielder has already done so 63 performances for his current club, he scored five goals and registered 14 assists, all at just 18 years old.

Then, of course, there is Tierneywho is expected to return to Celtic on loan during the current transfer window, before returning to the club on a permanent basis in the summer, signing a pre-contract agreement.

Celtic ready to complete signing of “absolute terror”

According to Roman on X on Thursday, Celtic are ready to re-sign former player Jota in an £8.4m deal, bringing him in following the imminent departure of Kyog.

Many Hoops fans will rightly be excited about Jota’s return to the club this month, given how popular he was the first time around.

The 25-year-old secured 54 goals (28 goals and 26 assists) in 83 games, providing so much attacking quality, and writer John McGinley once said of him: “Iota was a real horror there. Work, skill, strength and the right decision at the end. What a player.”

With Kyogo leaving Celtic, a new striker is imperative, and while he isn’t an outstanding centre-forward, Jota could be a fantastic addition Brendan Rodgers‘ lineup in the middle of the season.

The Portuguese knows the club well, so it shouldn’t be a problem getting used to his surroundings, and if he can hit the ground running, any fans who were angry at his departure in 2023 will quickly change their minds.

Celtic are now ready to make a move for £8m-rated Jota as an alternative to Kyog

It could be one in and one out at Parkhead in the coming days as Celtic look for a new striker.

At this point, it would be a huge shock if Jota’s return isn’t sealed sooner rather than later in what will hopefully be a memorable, and longer, second spell at Parkhead.
