Leeds agree to striker’s departure after bid
It comes as Hull Live’s free report claims Leeds have “now sanctioned” Joe Gelhardt’s loan move for the rest of the season, with the talented striker set to join Hull City for the second half of the Championship campaign.
It’s even claimed the move “could be confirmed in the next 48 hours” after he was left out of the squad against Harrogate Town, with Leeds and the 49ers accepting a loan offer from the Tigers.
He is expected to be eligible for Hull City’s next game, when they face Millwall on Saturday, adding that watching Hull City fight back against Leeds to draw 3-3 a week ago “reinforced his desire to join the Tigers”.
Gelhardt’s departure comes as no real surprise, as the striker saw just nine league minutes in the first half of the campaign and started just once in the Carabao Cup.
Still Farke called him “a really top man and quality player”he opened the door to his departure earlier in the month.
“Joffy (Gelhardt) is a candidate (to leave) because he hasn’t played that much”explained the Leeds boss ahead of his team’s clash with Harrogate Town.

However, Farke could be grateful that the move is just a loan, as Gelhardt is highly regarded by the German manager.
“I have an open relationship with him (Gelhardt) and I’ve made it clear that I rate him. It’s difficult for him because he’s a top character with his qualities; it’s just a matter of competition. I preferred to stick with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph. It’s difficult for him while he works at every training session. He knows that I trust him.
Gelhardt still has two and a half years to work on his A £15,000-a-week contract at Elland Road, meaning all parties will have the chance to reassess his situation in the summer without the pressure of his contract expiring, while the forward will get much-needed first-team action, albeit with one of Leeds’ title rivals.
