The 21-year-old striker is now set for a medical at Hull City as Selles moves into overdrive
January was very busy Hull Cityand with a week left in the window, it doesn’t look like it will be any quieter, as the “incredible” player is set to undergo a medical as he is set to join the Tigers, according to reports.
Hull City’s January signings
Ruben Selles joined Priority at the beginning of December, and he was given the task of pulling Hull out of the relegation zone and progressing in the Championship table. It’s been an inconsistent period for the Tigers, but a 3-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last time out is surely the highlight of their campaign so far.
There is still a lot of work to be done to keep Hull firmly away from the bottom three and Selles clearly sees that as he has brought in six new players this month. One of the Tigers’ signings was bringing in Joe Gelhardt on loan until the end of the campaign from Leeds United. Hull also added Lincoln on loan from Turkish giants Fenerbahce and permanent additions Kyle Joseph and Matt Crooks from Blackpool and Real Salt Lake respectively.
Nordin Amrabat has also joined the Championship side on a free transfer, with their latest capture being midfielder Eliot Matazo, who has joined from AS Monaco on a three-and-a-half-year deal. After signing for Hull, Matazo spoke about his delight at coming to the club. he said: “It’s a very ambitious project with great ideas, and I’m also a very ambitious person. We get along.”
The 21-year-old striker is now set to undergo a medical at Hull City
The Tigers are not stopping at six signings, as BBC Radio Humberside reporter James Hoggarth said, Louie Barry is set to undergo a medical at Hull City before joining on loan from Aston Villa.
21-year-old, who was called “incredible” of English midfielder Declan Rice, spent the first half of this season on loan at League One side Stockport County, where scored 15 goals in 23 league appearances. This was his second spell at Stockport as well as their final season, helping the club to promotion from League Two.
Barry’s form in League One impressed his parent club and they decided to exercise their option to bring the player back to Villa Park with the idea of sending him on loan to the top flight. It was unclear where the attacker might go, like Leeds, Celtic and Middlesbrough have been linked with an interest in signing Barrybut Hull seems to have won the race.
Barry’s ability to play anywhere in attack and his eye not just for goals, but for creating chances, means he will bring an extra quality to Hull’s attack that they have lacked all season. Barry’s arrival will see him battle it out with the likes of Abu Kamara, Liam Miller and Dogukan Sinik for a starting spot in wide areas.
