New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick said Thursday’s Sugar Bowl security will be beefed up to Super Bowl levels after terrorist attack on Bourbon Street.
Sugar bowl in between Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame has been pushed back to 4:00 PM ET on Thursday night after originally being scheduled for Wednesday night.

Kirkpatrick appeared on NBC’s “Today” show and give some insight into security.
“We’re going to have absolutely hundreds of officers and personnel on our streets,” Kirkpatrick said, mentioning Bourbon Street as one of the places where security will be increased.
“We’re staffing at the same level, if not higher, than we were prepared for the Super Bowl.”

It’s Super Bowl LIX set to take place in February at the Caesars Superdome – the same site where the Sugar Bowl is scheduled to begin.
The Superdome also hosted the Super Bowl, which took place after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Police officers and snipers were seen on the tops of tall buildings and the Superdome itself.
Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley said Wednesday that “public safety is paramount.”
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said he was going to be at the Sugar Bowl in a message to fans who were on the fence about leaving.

“I’ll tell you one thing: Your governor will be there,” Landry said. “It is proof, believe me, that this facility and this city is safer today than it was yesterday.”
