Smith missed the historic milestone in the SCG Test
The Aussie batsman may have faced rapid fire off the field, but on the field he could not face the quick delivery at short and fell short of the 10,000-run milestone in his Test career for runs. Smith arrived at the crease in the second innings after Marnus Labuschagne dismissed by the Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna. Smith had 9995 runs and needed 5 more runs to reach the historic milestone. Just then, a short ball from Krishna took an extra bounce and took the blade off the shoulder of Smith’s bat, who wasn’t expecting the extra bounce. Yashasvi Jaiswal jumped to grab the ball and successfully managed to dislodge Smith. The Australian experienced batsman was on 9999 runs at this point and now he will have to wait till Sri Lanka tour to complete his 10,000 test drives.
