Spurs make a late inquiry for the “prolific” star
Tottenham Hotspur they have been struggling for any good form in recent weeks. Ange Postecoglouside are currently faltering 15th in the Premier League tableand remarkably they are only eight points away from the relegation zone. While that might seem like a big gap, it doesn’t look like their current form is going to change anytime soon.
Spurs have lost four of their last five in the top flight, drawing the second game. They have now lost 12 times in the Premier League this term, and while the injury crisis is affecting their form, it is not good enough from the Lilywhits.
With that in mind, it is perhaps no surprise that the North Londoners are exploring some late moves in the transfer market, including one player who could provide an attacking boost.
Spurs are targeting a new striker
The player in question is Ajax and Dutch national team striker Brian Brobbey. The Dutchman has shown flashes of brilliance this term, but despite his inconsistency, he is a target for other clubs.
According to a report by journalist Fabrizio RomanoThe Lilywhites have made contact with Ajax to discuss a potential move for Brobbey. They made an ‘inquiry in order to be informed’ about his situation should the possibility of a transfer arise.
However, they are not the only London Premier League side interested in a deal for the Dutchman. West Ham United are ‘already in direct talks with Ajax’ about a potential loan deal with an obligation to buy the player. Spurs are also considering a loan move.
Why Brobbey would be a good signing
It was a somewhat successful season for the 22-year-old forward Brobbey. He has struggled to find his best form in front of goal, scoring just three times, but has seven assists in all competitions in 29 games.
However, the Dutch international has shown, from time to time, how clinical he can be. His goal against PEC Zwolle is a good example of this, showing great instincts in the penalty area to get on the end of a deflected cross to fire Ajax into the lead, in a game they went on to win 2-0.
Despite his poor form in this period, Brobbey was on fire in the 2023/24 campaign. He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, including 18 goals and ten assists in the Eredivisie.
Last season in the Eredivisie, Brobbey’s underlying numbers were nothing short of outstanding. According to Sofascorehe had a conversion rate of 21%, created ten big chances and won an average of 5.1 duels per game.

If Spurs can complete a deal to sign Brobbey, he could form an exciting partnership with the Swedish striker Dejan Kulusevski. Earlier in the 2024/25 season, former Lilywhites midfielder turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp claimed that Kulusevski “he was the best player of Spurs this season“.
Indeed, the 24-year-old has been on fire in all competitions, with nine goals and eight assists in 34 games in all competitions.
Perhaps the Spurs number 21’s best contribution this season came in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup against Manchester City, where he assisted both goals in a 2-1 win.
If the Lilywhites can get Brobbey back to his form from last season, Kulusevski could be in for a field day. According to FBrefhe averages 2.74 key passes per game and has more assists than any other Spurs player, with eight.
It seems like it could be a match made in heaven. Not only is Brobbey a brilliant all-round striker at his best, he is also a “prolific” player as described by football talent scout Jacek Kulig. He could be the ideal person to end up in Kulusevski’s situation.
As far as loan deals go, this seems like a safe move for the Lilywhites, as Brobbey could add goals to his squad and get the best out of his main creator.
