Spurs are chasing the £29m ace who will be one of the best in the world

It would be fair to say that, so far anyway, this season hasn’t been great Tottenham Hotspur.

Residents of North London are located dropped to 11th place in Premier Leagueand while they have a League Cup a semi-final to look forward to, against a seemingly unstoppable Liverpool.

However, while the mood at the club is currently far from ideal, there have been a few positives to come out of the campaign, notably the emergence of the sensationally gifted Mikey Moore.

So recent reports linking the club with another young talent who could be even better than the Englishman should get fans seriously excited.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a a recent report from SpainTottenham are one of several clubs interested in Barcelona’s incredibly exciting young striker, Vitor Roque.

Apart from the Lilywhites, the report revealed that fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Brentford are also considering the promising centre-forward as a potential summer transfer window target once his loan spell at Real Betis ends.

This competition and the fact that Betis has the possibility of another one-year loan and the possibility of buying into their business could complicate matters.

However, Spurs could still be ahead of the competition by showing their financial muscle and, according to reports earlier this year, a bid in the region of £29m might be enough to secure the youngster’s services, although that was before his recent rise in form, so the fee could be higher today.

Crossing the line could be an expensive transfer, especially for someone his age, but given Roque’s form this season and the potential many believe he possesses, it’s worth a shot, especially if he ends up bettering the incredible Moore.

Why Roque could be even better than Moore

Okay, so the first thing we should say is that as things stand, from his performances in the youth games to how insiders have been talking about him and his cameos this season, Moore looks like he could develop into a truly exceptional star.

Predicting a player’s future can be a tricky business indeed, but the young Englishman looks like he has what it takes to become a true world champion in the next five or six years, and so it is with Roque.

In fact, while the Spurs the game made eightmostly a substitute, this year he plays for the first team, he still hasn’t scored or assisted a goal, which can’t be said for a 19-year-old Brazilian.

For example, in 23 appearances for Betis this season, 14 of which were starts, the “truly magnificent” prospect, as he is called by talent hunter Jacek Kulighe scored a goal six goals and two assists.

Moreover, for someone his age, he has some seriously impressive offensive fundamental numbers.

According to FBrefBarça’s jewel is in the top 12% of strikers in Europe’s top five leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League, for expected goals without penalties, top 14% for total shots and top 16% for progressive transfers, all at 90.

If that’s not enough to convince you that he’s a “special” talent, as they call him former Atlético Madrid star Diegocould become one of the best strikers in the world, then maybe his statistics from the last season in Brazil will.

For example, in just 45 senior games during the 2023 season, the incredible phenomenon scored 21 goals and eight assistsmeaning he averaged a goal every 1.55 games, a ridiculous rate of return for anyone, let alone a teenager.

Ultimately, Spurs already have some exciting prospects at the club, but Roque looks like he could develop into a genuine world-class talent, and a front line with him and Moore could be truly special in a few years.
