Manchester United chief Ruben insists that there is “nothing personal” with Marcus Rashford, but forward “must change” if he wants to be part of his plans.
Seven weeks have been filled with speculation since the 27-year-old last played for his boyhood club on the Europa League trip to Viktoria Plzen.
Rashford’s waiting for the performance continues when United went to Romania to face the FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday after being left out of 21 people, despite training forward with his teammates ahead of the match.
Amorim said on Sunday after a 1-0 victory in Fulham that he would rather have a 63-year-old United goalie coach in his squad than Rashford.
This week there were reports that Amorim and Rashford were no longer in speech.
Amorim said at his press conference on Wednesday: “Our team should be so much better with Rashford. But he has to change. If he changes, we are more than welcome to invest a talent like Rashford and we need it.
“At this point, I think it’s really clear that we have to set up some specific standards.
“We’re waiting for Marcus, if she wants really, really bad.
“You try to do something personal, but it’s not personally, I don’t have anything against Marcus. I have to bring the same rules for everyone and that’s so simple for me, it’s always the same.”
Amorim: Clearly we are better with Rashford
Amorim continued to press Rashford in Bucharest that he was approaching the edge of the transfer deadline on Monday.
Entland International last month revealed that he was “ready for a new challenge”, but few clubs offer an obvious place to land thanks to his salary.
Amorim said, “The situation is the same for every player and the last time I talked about it in the last game, my sentence was that I would not put any players who did not give the maximum.
“I didn’t say I won’t put Marcus Rashford, so it’s the same situation. When I feel it is the right moment, I’ll put on any player to play.
“We are better with Rashford and that is clear. He is a big talent, but by the right moment I will not change my mind, that’s all and that’s always the same answer.”
Asked if he was disappointing that his message did not go to Rashford, Amorim replied: “Today I promised that I would not give you anything at Rashford.
“I give you a little. That’s the same thing. We need goals, we need one against those, we need a threat in the last third.”
Can Barcelona sign Rashford?
Rashford’s preference is still moving to Barcelona – but they have yet to conclude festive arrangements to take it on loan from Manchester United.
Spanish giants are struggling to create a salary space because renewal of the contract increases the salary bill, and players with edges such as Ansu Fati and Andreas Christensen did not want to leave the club in this window.
Sources in Spain say Rashford is ready to reduce his salary if he can reach an agreement.
The priority of Barca, however, is to solve the rest of their new contracts – among them Pedri and Gavi Prime, while stars like Robert Lewandowski have an automatic extension clause.
Chief coach Hansi Flick did not advocate for new signatures, and Rashford viewed him as an addition to the top -notch attacks by the Lewandowski trio, Yamine Lamina and Raphinha – a rotation option in a crowded schedule.
Barca was supposed to make funds from Saudi Arabia for Unai Hernandez and other prospects for young people, and if the Rashford move continued, it was set on the finals of the window.
