Rodgers has to throw out Celtic who have lost 83% of their duels
Celtic moved 16 points to the top Scottish Premiership table on Wednesday night when they secured a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over Dundee United.
The Hoops took all three points thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and substitute Reo Hatate either side of half-time, finally capitalizing on their last-gasp performance and moving further up the Premier League table.
It was a composed but not perfect game from the Scottish giant, who prevented Kasper Schmeichel from being called into fierce action.
However, there were a few players who struggled to make an impact on the match as they failed to make the most of their opportunity to impress and Adam Idah was one of them.
Adam Idaho’s performance against Dundee United
The Irish international was selected ahead of Kyoga Furuhashi for the second game in a row, but failed to live up to the challenge Brendan Rodgers‘faith in him.
Idah played the first 62 minutes of the game, before being replaced by the Japan international, and was not involved in the only goal of the clash – Maeda’s first strike – before coming on.
The 6ft 3 summer signing from Norwich had 19 touches of the ball in total and recorded one shot on goal, which was blocked, and created one chance for his teammates.
Idah can argue that the serve into him wasn’t good enough, which might be fair considering he didn’t get a single ‘big chance’ in front of goal, but he didn’t do enough throughout the game to create chances for himself, with a lack of movement in the last a third.
The Hoops centre-forward wasn’t Celtic’s worst performance on the pitch, however, as Hyun-jun Yang came on from the start on the right and Rodgers should immediately drop him after a disappointing performance.
Hyun-jun Yang performance against Dundee United
The South Korean forward was named in the starting line-up late in the warm-up after Nicolas Kuhn withdrew with a problem and that may have affected his performance tonight, as he was a player who did not look ready to perform.
It was his fifth startin 11 appearances, in the Premiership so far this season, and the 22-year-old is still looking for his first direct goal, with zero goals and zero assists.
Yang struggled to get in and out of possession all night at Parkhead on Wednesday as he lost 83% (5/6) of his duels and he was overpowered too easily by opposing players on the right flank.

As you can see in the table above, the summer 2023 signing offered virtually nothing in the upper half of the pitch, no dribbling, no shots and no chances created.
Idah at least created a chance for his team-mates and tried with a shot on goal to provide some kind of threat in the final period, while Yang did very little to justify another chance to start with an even worse performance from the Irishman in attack.

Therefore, Rodgers should drop him from the starting lineup immediately and offer another player a chance to take over, unless Kuhn is fit enough to return to the game immediately.
