Rex Ryan promises the ‘country club’ atmosphere is over for Aaron Rodgers if he gets the Jets coaching job
Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is lobbying for his old job, and part of that effort has included revealing one big change that will follow if he gets the gig.
Ryan, who led the Jets in the ranks AFC Championship games during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, will be interviewing with owner Woody Johnson in Florida on Tuesday.

During an interview with ESPN Radio on Monday, it seemed almost certain that he would be the best fit for the job.

“The reason I think I’m going to get it is because I’m the best man for it. It’s not even close,” he said, via ESPN. “What you’ve got to do is, you’ve got to connect with your football team, you’ve got to connect with your fan base. The way they play, that’s the most important thing. It’s not just X’s and Wasps and all that.”
In addition to showing confidence, Ryan even offered up a throw – one aimed directly at quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“Obviously, when you have a guy who doesn’t show up to mandatory minicamp — and he’s your quarterback, by the way, coming off an injury — I think that’s an absolutely ridiculous message to send to the team,” Ryan said of Rodgers missing mandatory minicamp over the summer because trips to Egypt.
“If he comes back, things will be different. If he comes back, it won’t be a country club, show up whenever you want to show up. That’s not going to happen. I’m just going to leave it at that.”
Rodgers talked about his future with the Jets facing some level of uncertainty after their season-ending win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

“Whether I’m back or whether it’s the guys they have, the new guys or whatever, the focus has to be how can I, the player, be part of the solution and not the problem?” Rodgers said. “I love this organization very much and I hope it changes. If I go back to it, I will do everything in my power to change it.”
