Ravens’ Mark Andrews breaks silence after critical playoff fall that led to death threats: ‘Absolutely heartbroken’
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews spoke for the first time after missing a two-point conversion in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
Andrews achieved great success despite facing ridicule and even death threats following a 27-25 loss to Buffalo Bills.
“It’s impossible to adequately express how I feel,” Andrews wrote on his Instagram page. “I am completely devastated by what happened on Sunday. I am heartbroken for my teammates, coaches and Ravens fans.
“I put every bit of my being into playing at the highest possible level, because I love my team and the game of football like nothing else. That’s why it took me until now to gather my thoughts and publicly address this.

“Although the shock and disappointment is unlike anything I’ve felt before, I refuse to let the situation define me. I promise that this adversity will only strengthen me and encourage us as we move forward.
“Thank you to everyone who has given me and our team genuine support these past few days. Despite the negativity, I have seen genuine love and encouragement, including those who have generously donated to Breakthrough T1D. Even when the moment seems darkest, perspective can reveal that there is still a lot of light in this world.
“Now I will do my part to recover and contribute to that. #GodBless”
RAVENS STAR BEGGED FOR CHIEFS TO BEAT SOMEONE: ‘WE CAN’T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS’
A GoFundMe was started by “Bills Mafia,” which raised over $100,000 for Andrews’ foundation. The Ravens looked back on a classy move by a Bills fan on Wednesday.
“Kudos to the Bills Mafia for showing support for our guy Mark Andrews and donating to @BreakthroughT1D, an organization working to treat and improve the lives of those with type 1 diabetes,” the Ravens X post read.
Andrews’ touchdown could not have come at a worse time for the Ravens as a successful two-point conversion would have tied the game in Orchard Park, New York at 27 with under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made a perfect throw to his usually reliable tight end who was racing toward the right post, but Andrews couldn’t secure it in the cold, snowy conditions. And the Ravens’ reaction on the field and sideline said it all.
The Bills knew they avoided a potential loss if the game had gone to overtime. Instead, the Bills head to Kansas City this weekend for another chapter in their rivalry with the Chiefs.
Andrews’ teammates quickly comforted him on the sidelines, where he looked shocked by what had happened. And although he admitted to feeling exhausted after the game, Jackson defended Andrews, saying it was a loss for the team.
