Rangers are chasing one of the SPFL’s “standout” players

Glasgow Rangers manager Philippe Clement new chief executive Patrick Stewart may have offered him plenty of support, but the Ibrox faithful know he is not the right choice to lead the club into the future.

Indeed, during the 3-1 win over St Johnstone in Glasgow on Sunday afternoon, the Union Bears walked off in the 55th minute in protest against the board and their decision to back the manager.

With the January transfer window in full swing, the only thing that could save Clement will be a deep run in Europe and winning the Scottish Cup.

The Premiership title race is all but over, as Celtic currently sit top of the table with a staggering 15 points.

The only positive in recent weeks are the performances of certain individuals. Nico Raskin has impressed in recent weeks, even captaining the Gers to a memorable 3-0 win over Celtic at the start of the year.

Hamza Igamane was the other big positive in the previous few months, proving to be someone who should not be dropped from the starting 11.

If he maintains this current form, then a host of clubs will be queuing up to secure his signature this summer.

Hamza Igamane’s incredible season in numbers

Rangers needed another striker last summer. Despite Cyriel Dessers scoring 22 goalshe was no answer for Klement.

Arrival of Igamana for a a fee believed to be £1.7m it was certainly a surprise, especially considering that the young man had not played senior football outside of Morocco before.

Although it was seen as a huge gamble, there was no doubt that the Light Blues could land the Moroccan starlet if the striker could settle and score goals.

They have boiled gold. Just seven months after moving to Scotland, Igamane emerged as a hot prospect, which he is already scored 12 goals in just 21 appearances for the club so far.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Everton sent scouts to watch the striker during the Europa League clash against Tottenham Hotspur. Igamane didn’t hurt his chances of a big move by scoring his first goal against the Premier League side.

Although the 22-year-old eventually got used to the rigors of Scottish football, he showed his true talents in Europe and he belongs at this level.

In four games of the Europa League, it is scored four goalsscoring every 48 minutes, with an incredible 67% goal conversion rate in the competition.

Furthermore, an average of 1.3 key passes and 1.3 successful dribbles on the continent shows that Igamane offers more than just a clinical threat in the final third.

He has already endeared himself to the Ibrox faithful, who see the forward as the ideal successor to Alfredo Morelos, and the two share similar attributes.

The more goals he scores, the more interest there will be before the summer transfer window. If a big-money move does materialise, he could just bring in significant cash for the Light Blues.

Having excellent players working behind him will allow Igamane to improve as the season progresses. But if he stays, he could be complemented by one of the SPFL’s best young talents.

Rangers move for Dundee star

According to the Sun, Rangers consider making a pre-contract move for Dundee starlet Lyall Cameron, who has enjoyed a wonderful season at Dens Park.

Cameron was briefly linked with a move to Glasgow last summer, but nothing materialized in the end. It was Celtic who signed the Dundee star, bringing Luke McCowan to the club, who has settled in well at Parkhead.

Could Cameron possibly follow in his former team-mate’s footsteps by switching from Dundee to Glasgow?

The Sun report claims the Gers are leading the chase for Cameron’s signature, although there is strong interest from other parties.

The opportunity to win trophies and compete in Europe on a consistent basis suggests a move to Ibrox could be perfect for the player to take his game to the next level.

Why Rangers should sign Lyall Cameron

Earlier this season, after a game against Rangers, analyst John Walker looked at his performance, saying: “I watched him closely against Rangers on Saturday and he was an absolute standout.”

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.

So he’s already stood out against Clement’s side, but what could he offer if he signs in the summer? Well, in the Premiership this season, Dundee’s sensation is already scored five goals and recorded four assists. Looking at all competitions, he scored a total of 15 goals.

This tally is all the more remarkable given that he operated either in the center of Dundee’s midfield or at times as a defensive midfielder.

Should he move to Ibrox, could his future lie in a more advanced role? This is something that would make him relate directly to Igamane.

Given that Cameron has created four great opportunities in the top flight during 2024/25, with an average of 1.7 key passes and 0.6 dribble success per game, he could be excellent if he goes a little further if he joins Rangers.

An average of 59.7 touches of the ball per game shows his willingness to get involved often during games, not shying away from the challenges of more famous teams.

These stats should be enough for Clement to see how he can add a quality midfielder to his squad for next to nothing, increasing the home side’s quota in the process.

At only 22 years old, Cameron still has a lot to do. A move to Ibrox could be fundamental in realizing his dreams as he improves as a player.

At the time of writing, a young man has 12 appearances for the Scottish U21 side. A move to Rangers ahead of next season could attract the attention of Steve Clarke, who may find it difficult to ignore him.
