Star India dough Shreyas Iyer he was officially named captain Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the 2025 edition Indian Premier League (IPL). The announcement marks a significant move for the 30-year-old, who has been in phenomenal form both as a player and as a leader over the past year.
Iyer, who was the captain Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL title in the 2024 edition, the franchise released him in the following off-season. Punjab Kings secured his services for a whopping ₹26.74 crore during the IPL 2025 auction, making him the second most expensive purchase of the season.
