Progressive foreign policy experts credit Trump with agreeing to a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas
Progressive foreign policy leaders acknowledge that the influence of President-elect Donald Trump has led to ceasefire agreement between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas which was attacked this week.
Politically he reported on Thursday that those experts recognized Trump’s role in reaching the deal, and some noted that President Biden didn’t have the stomach to do what should have been done months ago.
Center for International Policy Executive Vice President Matt Duss told the paper that Trump “has made it clear that he wants this war to end and pressed Netanyahu to do so in a way that Biden was clearly unwilling to do.”

Israel and Hamas agreed to a cease-fire agreement this week that also provides for the release of hostages this week.
President Biden detailed the deal during press conference on Wednesday, stating that this “includes a full and complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas of Gaza and the release of a number of hostages held by Hamas, including women and the elderly and the wounded,” a permanent end to the war,” and “a major Gaza reconstruction plan”.
IDF Reserve Brigadier General Amir Avivi told Fox News that the future president was one of the main reasons why this deal was agreed upon, even though it had been on the table since May.
“President Trump once threatened them, if they don’t release the hostages, there will be hell … I think they understand that if they don’t get a deal now, the chances of them getting a good deal are going to be very, very low, if at all,” he said. is Avivi on FNC’s “Your World”.

White House National Security Adviser John Kirby identified Trump’s incoming special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, as a key figure in brokering the deal.
Trump warned Hamas last week that if all the hostages were not released by the time he returned to office, “All hell will break loose.”
Duss – who was once a foreign policy aide to Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. – he told Politico that Trump’s involvement influenced the deal.
“Trump has made it clear what he wants, he has his priorities, and I think that the unconditional support that Biden has given has given Netanyahu cover to continue to fight this war, and that there would be no cost to ignore either. private or public criticism from the United States,” he said.
Since Trump’s team came on board, “That calculus has changed,” Duss noted.
Sandra Tamari, executive director of the Palestinian-led advocacy group Adalah Justice Projecthe admitted: “We’re seeing that Trump is really trying to show that he’s different from Biden and that he’s playing a strong male role, and in this case it worked.”
While not directly pointing to Trump’s influence, Wayne County Commissioner Sam Baydoun in Dearborn, Michigan, acknowledged that Biden was unable to reach a deal in May, calling the failure “disappointing.”
“Thousands of innocent civilians could have been spared if we had implemented this ceasefire back in May,” he said. Still, he expressed relief that it had come to that at all, saying Thursday: “Today’s announcement is welcome news for all of us that this cycle of violence will end.”
