Player ratings as Blues slump to late draw

Chelsea’s difficult run of form continued on Saturday when they conceded again late on to draw 1-1 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea they wasted little time in establishing their authority in the first half and were ahead on 14 minutes through the excellent Cole Palmer. He collected a reduction of Jadon Sancho after a brilliant solo run and shot from outside Dean Henderson.

Palace they were much stronger in the second half and gave Chelsea a handful of scares shortly after the restart. Malo Gusto, Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong had to make a series of impressive blocks to keep out Palace’s spirited forwards.

With nine minutes to go, Palace’s pressure was rewarded. A mistake by Palmer was punished as Eberechi Eze crossed for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who could barely miss from a few yards out to earn Palace a point that Palace deserved at the very least.
